I have two adopted x-racing greyhounds. Within weeks of adpoting my first dog, I was able to train my dog to stay, come, no and down commands. My second adopted greyhound within weeks of adoption, learned stay, come and no. I was not able to train my second dog to learn the down command. Unfortunately, my second dog had negative reinforcment used while training as a racer, unlike my first dog.
I had signed my dogs up for daycare, and asked about training. The Saturday before my dogs were going to be at daycare, I took my second dog in for an evaluation. Michael Diadone worked with my dog and I for about an hour and identified my expections.
I dropped my dogs off for daycare in the morning, and was wondering how my dog would do with training.
When I returned that evening, I was VERY happy to see that not only had my second dog learned down, but also sit! Michael then showed me how to work with my dog. I continue to work with both my dogs on their training. However without Michael's help my second dog would not have a new sense of security and calmness.
It was worth the training fee to see a positive change in my second dog. I would recommend both daycare and training at Alex Brooks.
"When I bought Lola in 2005 I wanted to make sure she grew up to be a dog that I could have with me in any situation. Thanks to Alex, Lola has become the best dog I have ever had! I took her to Alex when she was about 8 mths old. We started in group classes for beginner than advanced obedience. During this time she also spent time in daycare to ensure good socialization since she is an American Bulldog and sometimes they are not so great with other dogs. For the last three years I have boarded Lola with Alex & Marcy and they have continued her training. Lola has now received her CGC and has done therapy work. Thanks to Alex & Marcy I have developed an incredible bond with my dog. I must board Lola frequently and there are no other people or facility that I would trust with her."

"I am sure everyone writes in to say this, but even after just one visit to our home from Alex, Seymour is amazing. We plan on working with Alex some more, but already we see ahuge difference with our 4 mth old Welsh Terrier and have been happy to give Alex the credit when people stop us to comment on how nice and behaved our puppy is (and we get stopped alot!) Thanks a million."

"Last night we left Zoe home alone on the couch. We came home to a happy excited dog but from when we left she wasnt barking and when we came home she wasnt. I think I might turn on the recorder to my computer today to see what happens during the time between. The only thing was one poop not stomped in just missed the wee wee pad. This morning Zoe is lying in the corner windows in a little nook where the sun is squeezing in between the blinds, this is something I prayed for because my dog never seemed to do that lying on the floor in the sun thing that you often see larger dogs do. She is so calm, her behavior is so much better it is amazing. She is such a snuggle bunny now eager to show us shes happy to see us even if we just leave the room. We will persistently test her and continue the hard work that you put into her. We are grateful and proud to see her be so calm and balanced, and we both know that without your dilligence, sacrifice (being here alone away from your family) and hard work we would not feel so blessed today."

I have been personally working with Alex Brooks and his training staff for the last two years. I began training with Alex when my rescued 2 year old boxer/pit mix began exhibiting both dog and people aggression. After a few sessions with Alex, he informed me to have my dog medically checked out, as he was "just not quite right in the head". Unfortunately my boy was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma. But there is good news in this story, it is a year later, my boy is still with us and doing well , and with the exceptional training tools Alex was able to give us, we have kept his aggression to a minimum.
I am a firm believer that there are no coincidences in life and my boy's illness brought me to Midwest Canine Center for bigger things than him. I work with Chicagoland Dog Rescue. We are a no kill shelter that takes in any breed of dog for any reason. Needless to say we have taken in many dogs with major issues both human and dog related. Thanks to the team at Midwest Canine we have been able to place several dogs in their forever homes that otherwise would have been deemed unadoptable. The staff works with the dogs to regain their trust of humans and then when the dog is ready they proceed to obedience and pack position. The people at Midwest Canine are literally life savers.
Thank You Guys,

I got a dog for our family three years ago, having no dog experience whatsoever. The best thing I did was to get our new puppy, Chelsea, enrolled in Alex's Board and Train program. I then participated in weekly obedience lessons and now our pup is admired by everyone who meets her.
Alex Brooks and his staff are the "real deal". You can watch shows on TV or read a bunch of "how to" books, but when you decide you want to understand canine behavior and make your dog a positive partner in your life, contact Alex. His entire focus is on positive reinforcement. His entire focus is on positive training methods and how to work with your dog to make both of your lives better. Chelsea is now a terrific pet and a full-fledged member of our family, and much of the credit belongs to Alex Brooks Canine Center and their positive behavioral training philosophy.
We now have Chelsea spend time weekly in Alex's "Doggy Daycare," which allows her to expend some energy in a positive way -- it makes her happier the whole week. Alex's staff are tremendously positive and obviously love all their clients; we always board Chelsea there when we have to leace town. The staff takes care of Chelsea as if she were their own pet!
I have continued to have a great relationship with Alex and his staff. It's a releif to know that if I ever have any behavioral or training issues with Chelsea, I can call the folks at Alex Brooks canine Center and get some advice on the spot. Alex is the most intuitive , smartest dog guy on the planet, animal or otherwise!
It is a good sign when your dog prances into daycare never looking back. I am confident in the care and attention that the staff at Alex Brooks Canine Center gives to my dog. They report to me each day I pick him up how he did with the other dogs. It is nice to know that our dog is getting proper socialization and activity while in their care. They honestly do what is best for each dog. Their dog handlers are experts in their field and from what I can tell in my many visits, love working at Alex Brooks. Whether you are looking for daycare, boarding or training this place has it and does it top notch. After your first visit you will feel part of the community here and everyone will know your name and your dogs name and that makes it easy for you to walk away without looking back too.
I've used Alex Brooks for both training and boarding and they have exceeded my expectations. I brought my problem dog Max to them as he was about to be euthanized for nipping my granddaughter. They taught him; they taught me. Max is like a different dog. Mike, the trainer, spent time with him in an evaluation and within minutes I could see improvement. I'm a wolfhound (very laid back, gentle breed) owner and Max is a wolfhound/terrier mix (and a terror) and I don't think either one of us understood the other. Mike and the staff were able to make both of come to an understanding. Basically they saved his life!
I would highly recommend them! They are able to take problem dogs and help them become good canine citizens as well as helping owners become better masters. I've also used them for training one of my wolfhounds and was very pleased with that and plan to use them for confirmation when I get my next wolfie puppy.
